п»їLESSON: MOON LESSON CONTINUED
QUALITY LEVEL: 6TH
THEME: Investigation and involvement in a type of the moon's orbit around the earth through movement and dialect.
MAJOR ARTISTRY CONCEPTS TACKLED:
Dance Space Elements:
Place-self space/general space
Size and range of motion
Level-low through high
Pathway-curved, straight, horizontal, diagonal
Identification of parts
Shapes-straight, curved, garbled
COUNTRYWIDE STANDARDS RESOLVED: DANCE
Articles Standard #1: Identifying and demonstrating activity elements and skills in performing dance: a, n, c, deb, e, g, h
NYC STATE SPECIFICATIONS ADDRESSED:
Standard 1: Creating, Doing and Engaged in the Arts
Addresses all efficiency indicators
Normal 3: Respond to and Examining Works of Art
Addresses both performance indicators
Standard 1: Students will realize that the shape of Earth as well as the moon are spherical and that Earth revolves on its axis to make the appearance of the sun and celestial body overhead moving throughout the sky. Goal 1: Identify the appearance of The planet and the moon. a. Illustrate the shape of Earth as well as the moon since spherical.
Objective 2: Describe the movement of Earth as well as the moon and the apparent movements of additional bodies throughout the sky. a. Describe the motions of Earth (EX: the rotation/spinning of Earth on it is axis, the revolution/orbit of Earth about the sun).
The scholars will:
Produce deeper links between movement and other procedures regarding the celestial satellite and its particular sequences. They will then increase through activity connecting towards the different phases of the moon.

INFORMATION ON INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITY
(Introduction: What is a planet? What is a moon? We are going to talk about the world and its moon as we maneuver today. Assessment previous moonrise/moonset chart. Acquaint students with all the concepts of waxing compared to wanning, gibbous vs crescent, rotation and eclipse.
EXPLORING THE CONCEPT:
1 . Direct learners to pair-up. Have all in the " earth" students practice one counterclockwise rotation in place. Then have all of the " moon" college students practice one-fourth of a celestial body overhead revolution around their " earth" spouse. 2 . Play seven steps of Moondance, then end the music. During this time period, " earth" students turn in-place intended for seven counterclockwise spins, whilst " moon" students tools meant to counterclockwise one-fourth of a trend (about seven steps) around their " earth" partners. Check to see that students happen to be facing the correct direction. It represents 1st quarter. several. Restart the Moondance music, playing an additional seven steps. Check to see that students are in the correct position. The " moon" person ought to be halfway...
